I. Key Department News:

  • DOI Crypto-Variable Rekeying Completed: The annual crypto-variable rekeying of Department of the Interior Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment was completed by Karl Brown (CBI) this month. Both the BLM and the USFWS handle their own rekeying, with Brown rekeying the remaining DOI equipment. More than 99% of the 900+ receivers in DOI have now been serviced for 1998, enabling DOI GPS users to obtain 4-8-meter accuracy in their positioning work. (Karl Brown, Denver, 303/202-4240)
