I. Key Department News:

• USGS Aids NRCS: On June 4, CBI staff provided the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service with USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program documentation for use in the NRCS Alaska vegetation classification and mapping project. The USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program has produced documentation on the National Vegetation Classification Standard, Field Methods for Vegetation Classification, Accuracy Assessment of Mapped Data, and Use of Existing Data for Vegetation Classification.
