I. Key Department News:

• BRD Web Page Update: USGS Center for Biological Informatics staff member Susan Stitt, in concert with other CBI and Office of Biological Informatics and Outreach staff, recently updated the BRD Field Station map <http://biology.usgs.gov/fieldstation/> and associated text list. A copy of the graphic was provided to the Chief Biologist for use in presentations. (Susan Stitt, Denver, 303-202-4234)
  

II. Agency Works on Presidential Initiatives:

• USGS Hosts NBII Metadata Workshop: On August 13-14, the USGS Center for Biological Informatics hosted a National Biological Information Infrastructure Metadata Workshop, including instruction in the use of NBII MetaMaker, the metadata data entry tool developed by the USGS. Classes were conducted by Sharon Shin (CBI), Jennifer Gaines (OBIO), and Susan Stitt (CBI) at the Denver Federal Center. Fourteen participants from seven federal agencies and two natural heritage programs attended the two-day workshop. (Sharon Shin, Denver, 303-202-4230)
