I. Key Department News:

  • USGS Hosts Vegetation Classification and Mapping Meeting. The USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program (VMP) will host a strategic planning meeting March 7-9 in Denver. Participants will discuss and plan the long-term strategy to complete mapping and vegetation classification for all 250 National Park Service units included in the program. Partners from The Nature Conservancy, the National Park Service, the USGS, and Department of Interior cooperators are expected to attend this important planning session. The USGS Center for Biological Informatics provides management oversight and scientific guidance to the VMP. (Tom Owens, Denver, 303-202-4259)
