I. Key Department News:

• NBII Metadata Workshop Update. On April 17-18, Jennifer Gaines (USGS Office of Biological Informatics and Outreach) and Sharon Shin (USGS Center for Biological Informatics) presented a computer-based National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) Metadata Training Workshop at the USGS Great Lakes Science Center (GLSC), Ann Arbor, Michigan. Sixteen center participants completed the two-day workshop, which covered the Content Standard for NBII Metadata and BRD's metadata tool, MetaMaker. Scott Nelson, GLSC, hosted the workshop. On April 20-21, Shin provided the two-day workshop to seven staff members of the Lake Superior Biological Station, Ashland, Wisconsin. Michael Hoff hosted the workshop. On May 16, Helena Schaefer of the USGS National Wetlands Research Center will present a one-day NBII Metadata Training Workshop to staff at the Range Environmental Planning Office at Eglin Air Force Base.
