USGS Scientist to Assist with U.S. Coast Guard State and Local Subcommittee Topic on Incident Mapping Techniques: Karl Brown, CBI manager for the USGS/NPS Vegetation Mapping Program will present geospatial tools using GPS, GIS, and automated mapping methods on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Civil GPS Service Interface Committee meeting in Portland, OR. See http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/cgsic/default.htm. The CGSIC serves as the civilian user facilitator for general GPS, Nationwide Differential GPS, and navigation services management. Many local communities are in need of vegetation and fuels data, and rapid mapping methods for incident management. Mr. Brown will demonstrate the incident mapping methods employed during this record fire season in the west.
