Remote Sensing and GIS Laboratory

A state-of-the-art remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) laboratory is being developed at the Center for Biological Informatics. The lab currently contains applications software that enables both resident and visiting scientists to explore new approaches for biologically related geospatial research. Remote sensing research at CBI explores new and more efficient ways to conduct biological inventory, monitoring, and mapping activities such as leafy spurge detection, and to seek more efficient and cost-effective methods for supporting ongoing programs such as vegetation mapping at varying scales.
