NBII Current Technology Initiatives

The National Biological Information Infrastructure's goal is for users to be able to efficiently and easily browse for, identify, retrieve, integrate, and manipulate data from sources around the globe. NBII users are electronically connected to the source databases through a "virtual" interface, providing seamless access to a continuum of information. We aren't concerned with just how users see the information they ask for, but with everything that will make the delivery and application of that information possible.

The following technology initiatives are part of the architecture NBII is now building to ensure ready access to the biological information needed by our diverse users.
