Title: NRMSC – Prepare Detailed FDGC Compliant Metadata for Highest Priority Northern Rocky Mountain Ecosystem Data Sets

File Contents: FY00 Proposal - Prepare Detailed FDGC Compliant Metadata for Highest Priority Northern Rocky Mountain Ecosystem Data Sets

Summary: This proposal will create documentation using the FGDC Biological Profile and provide a clearinghouse for easy access and sharing of data within the Northern Rocky Mountain Ecosystem. Documentation of these databases and geospatial data sets are necessary for agencies to participate in the National Spatial Data Infrastructure and the spatial data Clearinghouse to comply with Executive Order 12906. This effort is also vital to the ongoing collaborative research projects of the USGS and resource managers of the Northern Rocky Mountain Ecosystem.

Products: At a minimum 15 data sets will be worked with to produce detailed metadata for existing geospatial data sets; selected non-sensitive data will be served within the State of Montana on an existing Clearinghouse node; and this non-sensitive data will be accessible over a local area network for research planning. Also, a user guide for viewing this new data will be prepared and distributed throughout the Northern Rocky Mountain Ecosystem.

Partners: Glacier National Park; USFWS; DOA-USFS; Waterton Lakes National Park, Canada; State of Montana; University of Montana-Missoula

Title: CERC – Missouri River InfoLINK

File Contents:

FY99 Testing the Missouri River InfoLINK in the Manitou Bluffs Project proposal, FY99 Utilizing the Missouri River InfoLINK in the Manitou Bluffs Project proposal,

1999 State Partnership Grant Report,

FY00 Missouri River InfoLINK Proposal

Summary:

The Missouri River InfoLINK web page was created in 1998 and 1999 and contains site-specific maps of the river corridor. Addition data and information is needed (such as historical photos, Lewis and Clark sites, etc.) to allow InfoLINK to be most useful to local communities. CERC proposes to identify these information needs and develop a template for displaying this information. The template could then be used along other regions along the Missouri River.

Products: A template to display site-specific data in a spatial context, a template for identifying information needs of the community and acquiring and understanding maps, and a demonstration in the Manitou Bluffs region. All templates will be available through InfoLINK and NBII.

Partners: Missouri River Communities Network, Coordinated Resource Management Group

Title: MESC/MSU-Metadata for Landscape Analysis of Wildlife – Habitat Relationships on the Northern Yellowstone Range

File Contents:

1998 Proposal: Preparation of metadata for landscape level analysis of wildlife (Metadata Creation)

Undated Proposal - Preparation of metadata for landscape level analysis of wildlife (no budget or date)

Summary: According to the SPP website, this was awarded in 1999. No new proposal located.

Title: NWRC – Enhancement of the Mississippi Alluvial Plain Ecoregion NSDI Clearinghouse Node

File Contents:

Undated Proposal - Preparation of metadata for landscape level analysis of wildlife (no budget or date)

Summary: There is a Lower Mississippi Valley (LMV) clearinghouse node that serves metadata and data for the region. Basic land use/land cover and GAP data is lacking, however. NWRC, TNC, and LADEQ propose to add datasets (1800’s public land survey records, GAP land use/land cover sets for 6 states) to the clearinghouse node. These datasets will be served on the existing LMV node to be used by researchers, decision-makers, and land managers.

Products: Two new datasets – 1800’s land survey and GAP land use/land cover data.

Partners: The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Louisiana, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LADEQ)
