Central Region 1998 State Partnership Program

The USGS/BRD Central Regional Office has awarded two state partnership projects. These partnerships include a focus on development of standardized metadata-based descriptions of biological data sets and information products. Metadata descriptions follow the National Biological Information Infrastructure's (NBII) Biological Profile of the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC's) Content Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata. The metadata documents will be made available over the Internet through the NBII Metadata Clearinghouse, which is also a participating node on the FGDC's National Spatial Data Clearinghouse.

One of the projects is between the Fort Collins Science Center and the New Mexico Natural Heritage Program and Earth Data Analysis Center, both located at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The project is titled:

Development of Tools to Address Biodiversity Information and Management Concerns in the
Southwest Across Spatial and Temporal Scales: a Tularosa Basin Model

The second state partnership project is between the National Wetlands Research Center and the Texas/Mexico Borderlands Information Center, which is part of the Texas Water Development Board's Texas Natural Resources Information System in Austin, Texas. The project is titled:

A Transboundary NSDI/NBII Metadata Clearinghouse Node for the Texas/Mexico Borderlands
