Central Region 1999 State Partnership Program

The USGS/BRD Central Regional Office has awarded two state partnership projects. These partnerships include a focus on development of standardized metadata-based descriptions of biological data sets and information products. Metadata descriptions follow the National Biological Information Infrastructure's (NBII) Biological Profile of the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC's) Content Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata. The metadata documents will be made available over the Internet through the NBII Metadata Clearinghouse, which is also a participating node on the FGDC's National Spatial Data Clearinghouse.

One of the projects is between the Fort Collins Science Center -- Greater Yellowstone Field Station and the Montana State University's -- Geographic Information and Analysis Center, located at Montana State University, Bozemen, Montana. The project is titled:

Preperation of Metadata for Landscape Level Analysis of
Wildlife-Habitat Relationships in the Greater Yellowstone Area

The second state partnership project is between the Columbia Environmental Research Center and the Missouri River Communities Network. The project is titled:

Utilizing the Missouri River InfoLINK in the Manitou Bluffs Project
