Tom Cronin, with Patrick DeDeckker and Jonathan Holmes, are organizing a special American Geophysical Union Symposium entitled "Foraminiferal and Ostracode Shell Chemistry: Innovations and Applications to Paleoclimatology" in Boston, May 31-June 3, 1999. A pre-meeting workshop, to be offered on May 31, 1999, is entitled "Workshop on Ostracode Biology, Ecology and Paleoecology for a Better Understanding of Ostracode Shell Geochemistry". The workshop will cover all aspects of ostracode biology and ecology relevant to paleoenvironmental study and will serve as an introduction to the special symposium. It will be organized under the Chairman (Noriyuki Ikeya), the Secretary (Akira Tsukagoshi) and other Organizing committee members (Kelichi Hayashi, Shin-ichi Hiruta, Toshiaki irizuki, Takahiro Kamiya, Ryoichi Tabuki and Michiko Yajima). The first circular will be mailed around September 1999. More information will be coming soon.
