Biology - Terrestrial, Freshwater, and Marine Ecosystems Program
Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center (FRESC)The Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center (FRESC) conducts studies in the western states and Canadian provinces—primarily, but not exclusively, the Pacific Northwest and the Intermountain West. The Center works extensively in rangelands and Douglas-fir forests, but also other ecosystems including sagebrush regions, deserts, and mountain lakes. Key areas of research include evaluating silvicultural techniques, determining the effects of contaminants on aquatic and terrestrial species, and tracking the status and trends of the Bald Eagle, pygmy rabbit, western pond turtle, and other wildlife. 777 NW 9th St., Suite 400 Samples of Ecosystems-related research at FRESC:
