Points were created from GPS data recorded in the field using a GarminMap76 GPS with WAAS enabled real-time differential correction. Digital point locations were verified over digital USGS topographic maps (DRGs).

Process_Description:

Detailed, quantitative data from the least disturbed areas of the Park were collected in order to augment data available for a regional vegetation classification. Quantitative plot data was collected only in the highest quality stands of floristically and structurally homogeneous vegetation. These were middle to late successional stands with a composition of mostly native species and with a consistent environmental setting. An attempt was made to find at least one undisturbed sampling location for each mid-to-late successional community type in the Park. Early-successional forests and heavily disturbed areas within the park were not sampled using quantitative methods. Six quantitative vegetation plots were sampled from June through September 2002
