Understory includes small to medium sized openings with herbaceous and shrub development. Polygon includes entire island with marsh, alder swamp, areas richer in birch and some poplar. 615 2 Gentle W Low level ridge Igneous Rocks: Basalt Upland Conifer dominant with birch. Rocky hogback. More level land than is typical. Birch crowns tend to be small and sparsely leafed. This may mask their presence as indicated by basal area. Canopy is more richly mixed than an 02 type.
