Feral pigs cause significant damage to native rainforest habitat Objectives:
Star  Identify new potential pest species entering managed areas
Star  Track changes in native and alien species populations over time
Star  Assess distribution and status of listed and rare plant species


Accomplishments:
Star  Four years of weed data collected for the Olaa-Kilauea Mgmt area
Star  Identified several new invasive plant species in the area
Star  Collected pre-and post-management data on understory


Significance:
Star  Invasive species cause significant damage to Hawaiian ecosystems
Star  Management programs must be supported by monitoring data
Star  Native ecosystems respond positively to management
