Dryland Forest Restoration at Auwahi, Maui

Auwahi dryland forest Objectives:
Star  Create habitat for recovery of numerous rare and endangered tree species
Star  Develop skills for replacement of grasslands with dryland forests
Star  Restore natural plant regeneration processes


Accomplishments:
Star  Outplanted over 9000 native seedlings
Star  Encouraged community involvement in restoring native ecosystems
Star  Provided for recruitment of 31 species of native plants inside exclosure


Significance:
Star  Stabilized Endangered and rare plants
Star  Involved community and transferred knowledge
Star  Refined technology for future restoration
